Stockholm Syndrome

The awesome guy at the front desk of our hostel, Fredrik, is letting me use this computer for free and I don't want to take advantage, so I'll make this quick.

1. Our hostel was built in 1650.
2. It is intimidating to not understand anything anyone says - very disturbing.
3. Land of IKEA!
4. Countryside: wheat fields, pine trees, wildflowers, red barns, white cows, clear blue sky, and fluffy white clouds.
5. Lots of lakes, ponds, and other bodies of water.
6. Language barrier is killing me. The only word I know so far is Tack = Thank you. We tried to get some groceries at a little store and had trouble because everything is in Swedish and there is just no guessing with that language.
7. There is a kitchen in the hostel which makes cooking great.
8. The rest of the girls left me for some dumb expensive sculpture garden I didn't want to go to, so I am on my own for the rest of the day. I'm going to wander (don't worry, Mom).

Love you all!

I'm in Linnaea's right now, and half expecting you to walk in with faith or arlo, or someone...but you're in stockholm, which is very far away.

One of my coworkers tells me he has recurring nightmares about not being able to find his favorite coffee shop in Italy. In his dreams, he tries, and fails to explain to the barista exactly how to make a capuchino. When you get back, you'll have to tell me if the coffee there is worth having nightmares over.

Tell Sarah I said hi. Tell her that maybe now she'll have enough material of her own for a story about a middle aged european man who falls in love with a beautiful american girl who leaves him broken hearted. Maybe it'll even earn honors at cal poly's own prestigious byzantium publication.

Hahahah I love you guys.

Emily, I miss not being able to talk to you too. I'm used to just being able to pick up the phone whenever I'm bored or sad. It's like quitting a drug cold turkey.

Megan, I hope your "meanderings" are going as well / are as fun as mine!

Stephen! Yes, the coffee is amazing here, but Steynberg is also very good, so I can't complain. I had my first espresso yesterday (I never just drink straight espresso - too strong), but it was delicious. I hope all is well!
